Hello,\

I just found out about this port.
Iam one of the artists on the original game.
I love the graphics on this version and the gameplay is smooth, although things seem sped up a bit so it feels a bit twitchy..
One thing I noticed is that there seems to be no prod with the stick.
On the original Rick a lot of actions were performed on the single button joystick and while held down could choose Up to fire the gun, Down to drop Dynamite and Left or Right to Prod with the stick which you now can't do until you have fired off all your bullets in the new control system.

Is there an option to use original controls if you can't fit all the actions onto the available buttons?

The stick prod was integral to the original gameplay, as it could be used to trigger traps without using a bullet or dynamite (which were limited ammo) and Prod could also be used to stun an enemy and stop them in their tracks.

Another thing I noticed is that Rick can outrun the boulder (he moves faster) whereas in the original the boulder moved at the same speed as Rick so the imminent danger was always there if you weren't precise enough in your actions.

I guess that this is all intended as a different variations and emphasis on the controls and the strategy for tackling the game.
Anyway, regardless. the game looks great and is still good fun to play.

Hello,

thank you and congratulations on this fabulous game that thousands of players have enjoyed.

You’re right,the stick is missing.

It’s a weapon I hadn’t implemented !

We decided that for this new version of RICK, he would have one button per attack.

But here’s some good news: I’m currently finishing up the port to NeoGeo/NeoGeo CD, and I’ve added the stick to this version.

I’ll also be increasing the speed of the boulder :-)

Thanks
