im so upset. this is actually hell. entirely mundane and familiar which is the worst kind of hell. you dont actually have any ;; real problems;; not for you no. this was like lying in a parking lot being repeatedly kicked in the head when sarah talked about knowing she was ;; probably a lesbian ;; but also like that fun fact didnt really matterrrrr i had to close the game and stare at a wall until my heart rate was normal again. you deserve to be grounded no electronics for this. dont think you will be saved by cute character sprites and funny jokes about explaining pronouns. setting aside the pain for what seemed a fairly standard sounding comedy premise this was remarkably unique and compelling in how it extrapolates certain aspects of fandom and shipping culture. unlike bun shes the type to remove herself from it as much as possible and ive always thought (projecting) that type of fan to be the type of person with very low self esteem and sarah embodies that so strongly even outside of her fandom life. her automatic assumptions that everything must reject her including even the smallest possibility of a better life for herself and like shes clearly repressed in many ways but it feels like so much more than that. and grayes character is the perfect foil to sarah a confident prince type who is respected and respects themselves while still feeling a sort of kinship with her. and sarah absolutely doesnt feel that there can be nothing similar between them even in this wacky fantasy scenario like a high schoolers wish fulfillment dream she still cant ever be anything but denied. its so tragic i cant help but pity her but also if sarah ever pops out of my display screen into my bedroom im snapping way quicker than she did.

and that was the cruelest joke a main menu screen ever played on me

THE FUCKING GAME ICON you sick sick fuck

thank you (?) for this comment!! been a while since i’ve had someone cursing me out as praise in the comments, brings back my fanfic memories. all jokes aside, i’m really glad this game captured that feeling of mundane misery. it’s a pretty familiar pain for me and one that feels difficult to talk about without immediately making it smaller and smaller, as sarah does throughout the story. it’s a feeling that gets so familiar that you can’t imagine anything else… hopefully one day sarah can find her way out of it. thank you so much for playing.
