The character writing in "Stormside" (other game by same author, on indefinite hiatus) was awesome, but I felt it relied a bit too heavily on the large cast, allowing for several tropey characters to each fill specific roles and gaps. Despite this though, it was still a huge step above most other porn games. When I saw the premise of this one, I was a bit sceptical that the quality would still be high, given the somewhat limited love interests, as well as it's more grounded approach. At least as "grounded" as a porn game can be, lol.

If anything though, the writing improved markedly, and there are points where I completely forget that I am playing a porn game at all. The main girl (I called her something else, so idk what her canon name is) is very fleshed out as a character, and it honestly feels like I'm reading a book, or watching an episode of a rom-com sometimes. Having a character like this elevates the H-scenes to a new level in my opinion. But even outside of porn, this is a really well thought out story, with even better characters. "Girl one" takes the cake but they're all great so far. I would be perfectly happy paying for and playing a SFW version of this game.

Idk if the person who made this is reading the reviews still, but I just wanted to take time out of my day and say that I really think you have a gift. If H-games are your passion then bully for you, but I truly think that you could find great success in a more traditional story game as well. Be it a visual novel or otherwise, you have a knack for creating interesting characters and letting them play off each other in a way that feels natural and fun. I really hope that you can find enough time in your personal life to foster that skill, regardless of how you go about that.

Thanks for the game!

I don't want to speak for the dev, but have you thought about the logistics of having seven characters with four different tracks each, and every combination potentially affecting future dialogue? Dragon Age had 400 people working on it, with most interactions being less complicated and far more tangential, and they had trouble.

Oh for sure. Again my point was to praise the dev, not shoot them down. I was saying what an incredible job they've done. Stormside was a wonderful game, but in my opinion, this is far better.

Also I've not played dragon age, but I have a feeling that the 400 dev number is being misrepresented here. Having 400 ppl working on a project doesn't mean that they all had a hand in every step of the game-making process. It's much more likely that they had a team of 5-6 people specifically dedicated to character dialogue, as well as one or two for logistics between them and other dev teams, such as level designers, animators, etc. If an author and editor can write a book completely of their own making, with several compelling character arcs all converging into each-other by the end, I can tell you for sure that 400 people doing it would only be pointless overkill, cluttering up the creative process.

The review system on itch does let me see reviews, but it doesn't let me respond to them. Either way, almost all reviews take the form of a rating without any words attached, unfortunately, so for most reviewers, I never get to see what they liked or disliked, regardless of how many stars they leave.

I do read comments however, though sometimes quite late. I'm deep in 0.5 development at time of writing. I'm hoping to get that released for patreon/substar guys in August, but I don't know yet. Development pace varies day by day based on whatever's going on but August might be possible. If not August, September. Progress is steady and good.

I'm glad you've enjoyed what I've made so far, and hopefully that continues with with I have planned/the stuff I have in active development. I appreciate that you think I could find success in a more traditional media, though luckily for fans of what I'm making right now, Studio Hearts is exactly what I want to be making. I'm very much a "porn with a story" dev as opposed to a "story with porn" dev. (I've probably typed that exact sentence like 100 times in various places, but it's still true.)

I'm typing this while quite tired, so I have no particularly elegent way to end it, so I'll do so by misspelling the word elegant and then saying thank you for your kind words. It is time to sleep until Monday.
