*** is such a frustrating self-obsessed annoying terrible person but maintains enough realistic pathos to be completely believable and real, though I do wish she had at least some likable traits to make her a bit messier than just a straightforward villain. She's boring not in a "lack of interesting writing" way but in the way terrible abusive people often are, nothing real going on inside just a twisted mess of selfish surface level desire, a black hole with nothing at the center. I enjoyed the way the narrative almost doms the reader, forcing you along with ***'s terrible actions, giving you false choices to force you to do the obviously wrong thing, making you give up control to someone so obviously abusive.
