I'm overthinking it, but I think Amos did the right thing about the creators and not with Mark. However, Amos was just doing the best he could within the framework he was given.Is it better to choose psychological freedom over physical safety?
To an automaton programmed by humans, NO. We humans struggle with this all. the. time and make the same choice - often maintaining the status quo due to analysis paralysis or fear of change.
And by the time the present-day story begins, Amos’ hardware is at least 25 years old; his last software update was…what, 15 years before? I’m surprised he remained functional for as long as he did.
