This game looks fun and seems to have a good concept, however I'm experiencing significant issues where I get an error every time I try to open the save menu and thus cannot play the game.

Yeah I've got you, I'm on windows, I just downloaded the game today from here so I presume it's the most recent version, and the screenshot should be attached

Hmmm, that's a very peculiar one. I will try to debug it, but for now I can only advice you fully deleting the game along with all the persistent data
\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\UnderYourSpell\persistent
And try installing the game again. Maybe into another location if it doesn't help?
