I can't tell what going on for the life of me. At first I was impressed with the tutorial and the intro but then the guy started dying in seconds, I'm left with no choice but to merge, I do that but then I'm stuck in a pretty long cut scene for some reason? I mean its nice that you have a cut scene but it felt like it came out of left field.

I can see a lot of effort went into the art and story but I feel like that is a bit misdirected. You should have a solid gameplay loop then have story, not the other way around.

Would it help you to understand that our intentions were for the story to be the meat of the game, and the virtual pet part is just the vehicle to get you to it? The actual physical digital pets from back in the day like, they don't have a lot of depth either. And in the story, the main character is aware of the fact that his job is pointless.

Either way, I did know that the presentation overall was going to make it confusing for some players, and I'm ok with that, I think. I appreciate you taking your time to play it and give feedback, always helpful!

What about showing the story first and then introduce game mechanics but as a minigame? Similar to what visual novel games do. That would communicate that intention more clearly
