The 'potted plant' thing is the exact thought that I have thought to myself several times after hanging out in (mostly white) trans spaces, even though I'm mixed and relatively white looking (ish). I feel still that there's a huge difference between how much I get interacted with vs white people and other white people. Anyways, lovely piece, and thank you for making it.
Indeed. Getting treated like a background object in these spaces really is quite common for us. I feel like white people have this weird radar for other white people...? They very quickly filter out those that side with the racialised and are also quite quick to racially profile.
