Thank you! Writing his progression was really fun, and it was one of the main things I like in a yandere as well <3 And yes, you're right! I would use reluctant respect to describe Chao and Jane, and the former's respect wasn't as strong as his desire. Still, he bears emotional baggage from what he did, it just wasn't shown clearly in-game due to the circumstances and short time frame. I'd really like to explore it more one day in a DLC/extra game.
