Yes, thank you! The concept of ending 3 and 4 was indulgence despite the dangers. Fun fact, LD was originally intended to have 5 endings, where you can leave him. However, there were lots of time constraints, and I thought that having no option to leave Chao strengthens the concept of Ending 3 and 4.
My decision was slightly inspired by the IF Project Hadea. I'm not going to say which character, but at one point, you get a choice to permanently kill one of the LIs. That drastic and painful narrative situation stuck with me for so long! I wanted to evoke a similar feeling.
Owen's trials and tribulations were definitely undeserved, so MC and Chao's actions play into the theme of selfishness that's most apparent in Ending 3. I have an analysis of it on my Tumblr, but if you want me to explain more, feel free to send an ask!
