I was able to play and experience your story. I left my final thoughts at the end. The only issue I had was the ground textures flickering constantly. Aside from the textures, I enjoyed the story and game play.
Hi, thank you very much for the video and feedback!
It is a nice feeling, watching someone play your game on YT, thank you for that. BTW, are you offering voice acting services? :)))
[SPOILERS BELOW]
To address your points:
- I admit, PSX textures back in the day didn't flicker THAT much, and the z-fighting of ground textures was initially introduced to the game as a mistake. But I decided to keep it, because I felt that it adds some strangeness and disorienting flavour to the game. Maybe I should change this effect to be optional, under toggle in Settings.
- The "Open window = possible dialogue" idea is something I got from Bloodborne, and I assumed that it will be noticeable, maybe even obvious for horror fans. Adding hint to Woytek's dialogue like you suggested might be too much of spoonfeeding, though? Maybe adding some light, coming from the window or other type of visual clue (like a lit lantern) would be a good compromise?
- Pouring the potion to the wooden figurine is the only sensible option, because there are no other drinks in the game, so here I'd rather not make any changes. Well, perhaps a small hint of double-use in the item's description wouldn't hurt.
Overall I tried to keep the balance between making things unnecessarry complicated and overly obvious, but your video showed me that there is still room to improve.
Thanks again!
