Nah a few towns here and there is nothing ^^
The easiest way is to get a level, and unlock the memorial star. When you find it during an adventure you can use some gold to put flowers on the soldiers grave. That gives you some units to help with the defense.
Also if you lose to the demons you get 10% of total gold earned and you can use that for memorial upgrades as well.
