At the time I saw separate download links for "creature" and a different one for "creature portraits". Same with "character" and "character portraits". But, they both linked to creature.zip or character.zip. It's no longer like that for me. I just see Creature Portriats and Character Portraits" listed for download. So, maybe it was a weird Itch glitch.
