Before I get into my feedback, I noticed that you did not select any of the challenges when filling out the submission. Reminder that this was a requirement for the jam since the beginning, so if you forgot to check one of the boxes then let me know and I can edit that for you. Otherwise, this will not be considered in the final results.

With that outta the way, here's my notes/feedback:

Welcome to the Future - This is a nice way of beginning this submission and I think you do a good job of introducing and arranging the different types of instruments we'll be hearing. The balance between the instruments is also well done, although I think just a touch more lower-register instruments is what I wanted to hear.

The Fall of Life - I like the kind of harmony you used in the beginning of this track a lot, kinda wish that this kind of movement stuck around a little longer. The way you introduce the electronic instruments and how they seem to overtake some of the orchestral instruments was a nice touch. While I like the way this track builds up at ~1:45 or so, I think the overall tone of the track could be a touch darker to better reflect the context. In this track's description I see terms like "draining life itself" and "deliberate betrayal", but IMO that does not always feel reflected in the music itself. Having the track feel a little darker could also potentially make the impact of the third track hit a little harder as well.

From the Ashes - I agree with your choice of a more classical arrangement for this track. It gives a nice sense of hopefulness and a feeling of being uplifted to my ears. I really like the way you pass the melody (or a slight variation of it) between different instruments, especially at ~2:25 through 2:40. To me that's the mark of a good composer.

I'm happy to see that people from the last Album Jam have made a reappearance, and I believe that you've gotten quite a bit better since then. Overall my main points of feedback (ie. my opinions) are: 1.) Try a little more to match the tone of the music to the tone of its respective context in an album or a video game soundtrack. As mentioned above, I think the payoff from the second track to third could potentially be greater because of that, and; 2.) as another had mentioned, try to incorporate more dynamics. Not necessarily just adjusting the volume of the instruments, but having them actually play quieter or have variations in their intensity if MIDI instruments.

Thanks for sharing what you've made, and keep up the good work :)

Hello Grunt,

First, you're absolutely right, I forgot to select a challenge category when submitting my entry. My submission was intended for Challenge #1.

I also want to thank you for your feedback. Just like in the previous jam, I really enjoyed creating this music. For me, these jams are both a challenge and an opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone and try new things.

Thank you for taking the time to listen and share such detailed feedback. I'll definitely keep your comments in mind for future compositions. Your feedback is very valuable to me, and I truly appreciate it.

Thanks again!
