Big idea list, I came up with some ideas while I was building my 4th tournament track, and here they are:

1. Weather, I’m aware of lag and all, and I’m a mobile user so obviously I’m not encouraging lots of particles, but I feel like fog would be cool, and also customisable skies would be cool too, the same as the ground. I haven’t actually looked at this much, but I’m pretty sure the whole sky is blue all the time. Also, if we had three ground colours, which we already do (snow, desert, grass) and three sky colours, (evening, midday, night 😟), this would bring our possible combinations of ground and sky from 3 (snow desert grass) to 9 (snowy evening, snowy afternoon, snowy night, morning desert, afternoon desert, night desert, grassy morning, grassy afternoon, grassy night.

2. Physics blocks, one example is a trampoline, this could be engineered to be a complete speedrunning device, orrrr a cool idea is to make the car flip upside down. Soo, when ur on the ceiling and you hit an upside down trampoline you flip right way up onto the ground. Another physics block could be slush, or quicksand, which decreases your speed while driving in it to 75 percent. Again, no particles needed, this would be cool for deciding: β€œshould I go on the inner lane to save time? Or am I better off avoiding the slushy dirt?” . This next idea isn’t the best, but magnets could be cool, for adding an effect of wind, as I think magnets could be easier, since you could code it to make the cars velocity increase as it’s closer to the magnet.

3. In track text and custom blocks. Low key this could expand the skill ceiling of poly track creators, and being able to design your own blocks could be legendary for track design. I’m not sure if this is possible but maybe even just the text on the blocks? It would be cool to be able to add big arches with the name of your tracks. Anyway, the art element of this idea has potential.

4. Randomiser. Kodub, I’ve seen what you can do, that generate button? We can make this even better. In the copy paste section, there can be a randomiser button, that makes the copy pasted thing look different, keeping the same main structure and blocks. Say it has 4 different blocks, the volume of the the copy paste stays the same and the variety of blocks stays the same. But everything moves. This could be huge for terrain builders

5. In game tournaments, players can take part in in-game tournaments, granting them with an urge to grind tracks. It could have a point system. I’m not trying to popularize my own tournament with you kodub, but my concept could be cool, better spot, better points.

6. Featured tracks. Example #1, the track of the week. This is well known and should be displayed in a 4th section, called TOTW, after custom and community and official. Every week, the elected track of the week could be added here.

If you like any ideas, I would be honoured if you added 1 or 2 lol

danm these are all really good ideas

thx bro!

idea 1: probably not fitting the theme of polytrack to add weather

Idea 2: boosters may be added, but I think too many physics blocks make the game too complex, and polytrack is a very simple game. Trampolines could also cause many bugs.

Idea 3: track codes are WAY bigger, and nothing stops people from writing bad words. Just use pillars to make text

Idea 4: extremely hard to code, as most likely a trained ai system would have to interpret the terrain and remake it without any technical issues. By this point, it’s easier to build manually. Better track randomizer would be good though :)

Idea 5: in game tournament support should be added 100%, this has been suggested in discord many times

Idea 6: this would be great, and it has already been mentioned before many times. Would love to see this in 0.7 or 0.8!
