I'm really enjoying so much of this game but I'm not understanding how attacking works as I'm not following the terms.

Could you reply with a couple of examples and I think it'll clunk in place?

Thank you

Yes, no problem!

So this game works in a simultaneous activation. Both players hiddenly mark on their sheets where they will shoot.

Under wagons that they want to shoot with, they write down:

  • [X] - number of enemy wagon they want to hit (called Target Wagon).
  • [<] - their prediction of what enemy's Speed will be (called Lead).

When both players are ready, they reveal their sheets with writings. This is a moment when "guns fire".

Then they calculate which enemy wagons were actually hit by shots of their own. For each wagon they used to write target under, they calculate, using numbers they have written there:

  •  [X] plus enemy [>>>] minus [<].

[>>>] being Speed (written under Locomotive).

All hits landing simultaneously, so no effects until last one is calculated.

EXAMPLE:

  1. I have a Piercing Cannon wagon and a Big Cannon wagon. I use my first action to Repair something, second and third to shoot with said wagons.
  2. I want both cannons to hit enemy Locomotive (which is always wagon №0). So in a [X] box under both wagons I write "0".
  3. My opponent's Speed (>>>) was "2" for last couple rounds, so I do think he is going to change it. If he will, it would become either "0" or "4".
  4. I am not sure which one, so in a [<] box under Piercing Cannon wagon I write "0", and in a same box under Big Cannon wagon I write "4".
  5. So markings now look like this PC: [0][0], BC: [0][4]
  6. We both have made our actions and now we reveal our sheets.
  7. I see he changed his Speed indeed! It is "4" now. So I calculate my shots.
  8. The Hit Wagon of my Piercing Cannon will be: [0] + [4] - [0] = 4. So it hits the Wagon №4 of my opponent's train. Quite a miss.
  9. The Hit Wagon of my Big Cannon will be: [0] + [4] - [4] = 0. Big Cannon hits the Wagon №0 of my opponent's train. Which is exactly one I aimed for!
  10. My opponent calculates his own hits too. He destroyed my Big Cannon with his shots. Sad, but it doesn't affect this turn, for shots were made before hits landed.
  11. We erase what was written on a sheet and proceed to the next turn.

Hope this helps!
