Hey Pixel, sorry for the delayed response.
1) If a red card was drawn it means no significant noise was made and zombies ignore it. The rock you threw fell in a soft bush or patch of grass.
2) Yes, ULC made special spawning rules to spawn extra zombies. I will request a short write-up of his rules and hopefully post it here in an update.
