a few hours into the game, do the steel tools intentionally use iron ingots? (steel logging axe, steel pickaxe etc all use iron ingots and timber, but no steel ingots)
No that is a bug, I'm fixing it in the next update/iteration. Just a lack of testing on my part, sorry about that
