Rule clarifications

I loved ENI 1e, and i'm very happy to see it being developed further!

Just wanted to clarify my understanding of the rules:

  • You start with one d4 trait and five unused traits.
  • You are maybe supposed to use Tracks for items?
  • The term "mark" a Life die is the same as spending it.

Thank you, benji t. This is very much a work in progress, so your comments come at a great time.

Question: You start with one d4 trait and five unused traits.

Starting traits are optional. If you start with a trait, it should just be one, maybe two, and a D4. I think they are quite powerful since they do not step down. And why would they? Your ability to know something does not diminish the more you use it.

Question: You are maybe supposed to use Tracks for items?

Not everything needs to be tracked. While your Unbreakable Sword slays whatever, it is doing its job. No need to track it. But once you try to open a door for it, you can roll a D20 and see. Fail… and it’s now a D12 the next time you misuse it. The sheet is designed to be able to track ITEMS and ABILITIES as you learn them or overexploit them or whatever you come up with.

Question: The term “mark” a Life die is the same as spending it.

Yes, let me fix that.

There is a full 7500 word google doc for this game with more examples, but the one-page is slightly more up to date. I will post it when it’s ready.
