Thanks for playing! I should have added a tutorial for this, but here it is:

  • Top left: Health bar
  • Top right button: Shoot (you can also shoot the tree to change your location)
  • Bottom left: Force attack
  • Bottom right: Freeze attack

  • Other levels needed more time, so I ended up using only the boss fight level but forgot to remove those buttons(I will remove them in the next update or include other levels too).

My original idea was to try to get a painting-like art style using hand-painting in substance painter and implementing kuwahara filter using compute shader, which I think I have achieved, but could be improved. Since you only used shoot key, I would like you to try to use other magic abilities, as they are really fun to use

    Thanks for the clue!

Just tried other buttons, pretty good idea and nice arts!

I would only advice you(if I may) to make the buttons more visible, cause I saw the aim button, but the bottom buttons left completely unseen by me, that is why I didn't try them on the first go! Maybe give them a light outline, or just make them lighter to contrast with the darker ground?

Anyway, interesting idea, and nice job on the implementation!

I'm so glad you gave it another shot!

For the final build, I plan to render the game onto a texture applied to a painting inside a room. You will play as a wizard holding a controller, interacting with it through a diegetic UI, or you can just connect an actual controller or keyboard. I'm not entirely sure if I can even pull this off but if you are interested in seeing how it goes, I share my daily progress on Instagram(gamedevajay) and change things based on the feedback
