seems to me like it's currently working fine, although I've sometimes observed instability in the Godot web export on iOS devices in the past for other games

A bit of followup: I did actually learn today that there was a recent change to the itch.io CDN that would have made the game unplayable for some time, and while I'm not sure whether the timeline works out such that it could have explained your problem, it's possible that the fix I just uploaded fixed your problem as well.
