This is good. The characters are sympathetic and believable (though Timber is perhaps too well-adjusted for having grown up in such isolation), the story is interesting, and the world is described evocatively.
If I might offer one slight criticism though: You've overused the word "melt". Doing a Ctrl-F on the script finds 27 of them, of which only 6 are literal.
