I'm glad I spent a little time with this because there was a lot I didn't pick up on right away.
I have to click behind the drill to charge. I'm supposed to go back and do the upgrades after I run out of launches (At first I thought it was a game over state). I thought the QTE cue sounded like an item pickup or something so I missed it completely at first.
Eventually I made it to the second material layer a few times and did some upgrades. Didn't finish though.
