Thanks for giving your time to play my game please let me make things clear:- yes you loose moves for each jump no matter it’s mid air or not and you get them back once you successfully jumped inside the water and that’s where the heat meter will reset as the Penguins body will cool down because of the water and one more thing I want to add maybe you didn’t noticed the green slider at the top right use it to increase or decrease the speed of your jump (how far will you jump) and if your heat meter max out the penguin will die due to too much heat.
