Are you both playing on the same version? New versions almost always have sensitive changes to the game logic, so they aren't compatible with each other. If you are, when you try to connect, does anything pop up on the lower right of the screen, when you close the menu? What regions are you and your friend in? If you can remember, ofc

Sorry to reply so late. I didn't think anybody would respond. I downloaded it the night before and a day later they downloaded it right before we played. We are both in the same region. If there really was an update between when we downloaded it than maybe it just wasn't meant to be. We will try again.
