Played this with a friend in a couple of hours (we pulled... four cards...), & it was very fun! A really good amount of scaffolding for a one page game, worked really well.
Our Princess sacrificed her hand to destroy the curse, not knowing she was freeing the curse from its sword to return in her future reign. We came up with a bunch of alternate universes:
- the curse possesses the Princess and searches the land for other curses, as it wants to experience them;
- the curse, fearing change, begs the Princess to remain in the partly-broken sword, and promises her it will lend its power to give her control over her fractured court, leading to a tyrannical reign with an increasingly resentful curse;
- the curse, freed from the sword, replaces the Princess' hand, and they live symbiotically for a while (the curse enjoying the novelty of cursing more people, the Princess using it to retain control), until the curse's resentment + qualms with what she is using it to do lead it to plot against her, thinking her death will free it again.
The Princess & sword (or curse) felt like very distinct characters by the end, which is lovely. I hope we play another of these games in not too long.
