thanks for playing! yeah, the early game is maybe a bit too brutal. there is actually a small chance that if a bullet (from either the pistol or the rifle) kills the mutant it will explode. the shotgun has a 50/50 chance of exploding them on kill. but i agree that it's still probably not enough.
