I get that problem. the beauty of visual novels is that the images on screen are metaphores for the writing. I/O for example handles fight scenes with one single CG and then lots and lots of writing that doesn't exactly match but still works out since the reader is more focused on the words and mental imagry then the litteral depiction of the images.

Absolutely, imagination is your best ally in these moments. That's what I try to stimulate as I simply can't make an image per click as some other games and devs.
