All too often people confuse their passion for making video games with their desire to make enough money to live. When you meet someone at a party and they ask "what do you do?", you don't have to reduce your life to the place you sell your labour. You CAN say "I love making video games." even if you've never made a cent doing it. You CAN dedicate yourself to your craft, be part of the community, and produce art that fulfills you, while working at mcdonalds to keep the lights on. You can also have a fulfilling and secure professional career, while making video games that you love. You can sell your video game and make money WITHOUT "making video games for a living". In a better world we would have more time to work on the things we love, but until we can create that world: work for a living AND make games.
