I should probably start with that I didn’t actually play the game myself, as I don’t have a computer available to me. I watched BigGaming64’s play through

I really enjoyed the dialogue between the students, as someone who recently graduated high school myself. Even when facing a “fate worse than death”, people crack jokes and make anime references. That’s just life

I was also imagining my own idea for a torture device. I call my idea the 9to5er. You have an enclosed space, with only enough room for a treadmill. You can put your victim in the space through a slot in the ceiling. The treadmill is tricked out with a keyboard and computer interface, and the belt thing that moves is fitted with sandpaper

The person has to keep running for as long as they can, because if they stop, they’ll have nowhere to sit but the treadmill, and the sandpaper will slowly skin them. The victim can earn things like a protein bar or a five minute rest, by completing tasks on the computer. Just enough to give them a sense of hope that they can get through this. But the tasks will get harder as time goes on, until it’s impossible. I think this is a good balance between physical and mental torture, as they lose hope as time goes on

The art part comes in on how this is just a more gory version of the lives of many people. Doing office busywork, living paycheck to paycheck, unable to take a day off work or they won’t be able to make rent, or pay for groceries. Which is why I call it the 9to5er, like the 9 am to 5 pm work day

Understandable, there's an Android version tho and you can play it online on the website itself so give the spin off The Puppeteer: Lamentation a go :)

I wrote the dialogue during my final engineering college year when we were working on a graduation project so it was indeed very relatable.

Your device sounds really interesting but, like the deli slicer thing, there's not much work involved so the judges wouldn't like that. But you know what? This would be an excellent game concept on its own where you're in an office of a dystopian world sitting in a cubicle among tens of cubicles, forcibly enduring the 9to5er. You get easy tasks that eventually get more difficult until they're practically impossible and you just watch yourself get practically peeled to death with the screen turning redder and redder until it's completely red and the game ends.

Hmmmm maybe with a ps1 style orrr 2.5 billboarding, something like that which would be distinct.

Something like that can probably be done using Godot which is not as complicated as Unity.

And for the name? Hmmm maybe something ominous like "As life peels away" or something.
