Quite the suspenseful game! The entire time I was wondering what is really going on around the lake since Gil seems to be hiding things from Finn and Finn seems to be tripping balls lol. I really like the pixel art aesthetic of the game and the fishing minigame is quite fun.

Some comments:

  • I was unable to finish the game since I got stuck on the part when the water current makes a box around the fish. My hook would just keep going round and round the fish due to the current, and no matter how much I tried to maneuver the hook, I couldn't get inside the box.
  • I liked the CRT filter, but I feel like the image distortion was a little too strong. I felt a little dizzy when walking for an extended period of time. Perhaps an option to turn off or adjust the strength of the filter would be good?
  • I feel like some background music would be good—I wanna listen to some music while fishing! I know during the spooky parts there is some background sound, but the rest of the game felt a little barren without any background music. What if the normal parts had background music, then when spooky stuff happens it's silent instead? Could be unsettling.

I think this is a great proof of concept for the prototype. I enjoy the mystery of trying to find out what's going on with this anomalous lake. Looking forward to a complete version!

Thanks for checking it out!

You are right it is definitely missing music and ambient sound. I will work with an audio person to make that for the next iteration.

I can definitely adjust the visual settings, or make an option to adjust it. That would certainly help accessability.

I'll work on tweaking the currents to make progression easier or more transparent in what to do as well.

I really appreciate this feedback and glad you enjoyed the story and atmosphere <3
