Been getting a number of questions on this topic so I’m going to try to give a blanket answer:

This is an RPG Maker game jam, which to me means the “vibe” of RPG Maker in the base engine. This means top down, pixel graphics, somewhat rudimentary gameplay systems, on a tile system, etc. However, RPG Maker can be modified in a lot of ways to do much more than this, which makes it hard to allow other engines. But I’m chill so I will allow other engines with the following limitation.

IF YOU USE AN ENGINE THAT IS NOT RPGMAKER OR RPGMAKER ADJACENT, YOU MUST EMULATE THE BASE RPGMAKER STYLE OF GAME. You cannot use another engine and make like a third person shooter and say that is emulating RPGMaker “with plugins”. You must stick more rigorously to the basic RPGMaker vibe when using another engine, if you can do that then it’s fine. Feel free to join the discord and @ message me with questions or concerns if you choose to do this, or ask on here.

just curious about renpy it is not like rpg maker but it does act similar with a heavy emphasis on story and visuals and does not allow you to do a whole lot of crazy stuff with gameplay dunno if it is to far seperated but i guess that why i am asking (renpy also got a lot of gooner games like rpg maker)

Renpy is a bit too separated IMO since there’s not much of a gameplay component from what I’ve seen. But again, you’re welcome to try to use it and stick to that RPG Maker vibe. It ultimately will be up to me to decide in judging if I felt like it fit the vibe enough, so you’re taking a risk but you’re welcome to try!

aight gotcha thx for the quick reply

soo rpg in a box because i just wasted 10 pound

if not

You can use it but try to stick to that RPG Maker vibe. It ultimately will be up to me to decide in judging if I felt like it fit the vibe enough, so you’re taking a risk but you’re welcome to try!
