It's the game mechanic. When you hit the invisible bottom, it forces you to swim up because the new place is right above you. There's also the (L) button, press it and it'll move your camera to that new surface direction, then follow that direction. We'll re-design the mechanic.
Thats not what happens. I Either cant swim down past the bottom or i can swim down forever. I sawm down for 5 minutes and it took 5 minutes to swim back up and nothing changed
