We don’t read these often so we apologize if you feel ignored, but 4.0.0 is out now. (or rather has been for a few days now)

It definitely was not a bluff, we’re just an extremely small team working off 2 developers out of passion; we don’t make any money from updates so making this update was a really big out of the way thing especially given the fact we had to essentially change every single element of the app to make it all work just from the work associated with MKLite alone.

So understandably it’s been kind of a balanced priority to make sure we’re getting what we need out and fairly rigorously tested without burning ourselves out. Developing for 3 major platforms is a really big chore for us on top of that especially with the Wayland developments and more causing a lot more issues than we’re used to as of late.

As many of you already know we don’t get any hand guiding or documentation when it comes to API usage so we’re going in blind with 99% of the things we get thrown at us which definitely slows our pace down too with update scales like that.

However, now that we’re back on a scheduled and far more healthy development public cycle you should feel a bit more at ease to see we’re back at routine.

Appreciate you taking the time to respond, and good to hear directly from the team.

I've been using 4.0 for a few days now and it's noticeably smoother than what I was running before — the rebuild clearly paid off. Worth the work you put in.

For what it's worth, my original gripe was never really about the timeline itself. A rewrite this big taking a while is completely understandable, especially for a two-person team going in blind on most of the API stuff. The frustration was mostly about transparency — going quiet on where things stood while the hype kept rolling.

So if there's one thing I'd genuinely suggest going forward, it's keeping the community a bit more in the loop. Even a rough "here's where we are, here's what's blocking us, no firm date yet" every so often goes a long way. For me at least, the silence was harder than the wait itself.

Glad to hear you're back on a healthier, scheduled cycle too — that matters as much for you not burning out as it does for us. Everything seems to be heading in the right direction. Thanks again, and looking forward to what's next.
