Hi!
I like translating because it genuinely brings me joy. It is also nice to know that other people can enjoy the game in another language because of my work, and that gives me a lot of positive emotions.
I usually ask developers for permission first because I don’t want to make a fan translation without knowing how the creator feels about it. If I translate something and the developer later finds out and dislikes it, that could create problems. So I prefer to be respectful and ask in advance.
And as you can see, sometimes a fan translation can even become official, which makes me really happy.
It also gives me more experience with programming. I don’t just translate the text — I also try to put the translation into the game. Before, I didn’t know how to do that at all, but now I understand it a little better.
So this helps me not only as a translator, but also with my future profession. Although, to be honest, I still make mistakes sometimes. Even after doing this several times, I can be inattentive and accidentally break the code, so someone may need to fix things after me.
Still, I’m always happy when developers agree to let me translate their games. It means a lot to me.
