How to get symbol of protection or power maybe, I don't seem to have any. Is it like that these will be found during search in the later part of the story and then we have to make a new playthough?

Every symbol for barter can be found in the locations on the map — right at the moment of the game, when it is needed.
A symbol of protection is in the Shamans’ Commune.
A symbol of power is in the Earl's Manor location.
