Rest mechanic and pacing yourself. If you roll too many dice you'll get an onslaught of encounters that whittle your HP down and you'll need to rest. If you haven't found enough dice yet it doesn't become an option. Also if you pace yourself too much, you'll end up running out of turns. Once you get low on turns, you'll want to be throwing all your dice and rushing to get to the end of the dungeon.
