Thanks for reading! I do agree that there's no way to truly replicate the feeling of playing a game, but for me at least, I need more than just a recording to capture the energy between the players. I think this medium has a lot of potential that has largely been untapped due to creators seeming to be restrained by what the format of the medium has been. I also have a pretty loose definition of Actual Play, to be fair.
Also, I agree that a lot of creators aren't trying to cater to algorithms or anything. The tone of this manifesto is intentionally a little provocative (I had to keep myself from pulling my punches on a lot of this, as you can see more in the original markdown file). But I do think that even when creators are making what they want to make, "the medium is the message", and these platforms shape our creative processes in ways we don't always fully comprehend.
