It’s a cryptid hunt! But, are we hunting the cryptid or is the cryptid hunting us? Crimson Creek is an intriguing story with a bit of investigation flair. The characters are well written and I really liked our main couple’s dynamic there.The ending is a bit abrupt though, and the second half of the VN doesn’t have scene examination or clue presentation, probably because of time constraints. Additionally, the sexy scenes feel a bit tacked on. (We never got to know what happened to poor Maria)
The presentation is really good, with great looking sprites and good audio landscape. The UI is great as well. Maybe the Jersey Devil was too clear on the dashcam camera..? The photographs work fine.
The folklore theme was obviously present as we were looking for it the whole way through. I had heard of the Jersey Devil before but didn’t know anything about it. So I don’t know how much this adaptation changes things. We definitely didn’t see any crimson creek.^^
Overall, I really liked it but was a bit disappointed by the gameplay elements mostly disappearing in the second half. Great job!
