If you want it to be faster and easier, I'd recommend running through the beastie encounters w/ max upgrades on the previous version before playing the new one with Beach. The new upgrades are a bit more well-balanced here, but weaker overall.
I can't beat the guest Beasties with the new shop, upgrades are all nerfed.
