Hi FuriLewd, interactable items should display a white outline as you hover the over them (the flashlight included) if that is not happening that is indeed a bug.
Is true that the difficulty is a bit on the hard side even in normal mode. And at some points Marie will send you out into a quest with little information on where to start looking.
We are still improving on the narrative elements of the game to help guide the players on the first missions. And an easy difficulty setting had been on the table for a while. But we are mostly focusing on debugging the core elements of the game rather than adding extra features.
