What IS there is amazing. But unfortunately, that's not very much. It's painful how great this project could be, but it has been abandoned. I find it particularly scummy of the dev to be asking for $10 for this when for that price, you can go get actual completely projects. I'm interested in how long the demo is, because the Founders Edition is still so short it feels like a demo.
The dev claims you get the early build of Episode 2 in the Founders Edition, but unless I'm missing something, that is just a blatant lie. You get a sneak peak of episode 2, that jarringly plops you into the middle of it without any context, and then you pick up a gun and shoot an ET before the credits roll. With the amazing worldbuilding and tension of Episode 1, this was super disappointing. There was no teasing the alien, no dramatic buildup, just...enter room, there's an alien. It's like he threw it together just to appease people who might be upset about paying for a "survival horror" game that has no survival. There are NO enemies in Episode 1, and you can't even kill the ones in the sneak peak of Episode 2.
Where it stands, I really wouldn't spend your money on it. I wish I hadn't. I was craving some alien horror stuff, and got curious enough to drop the $7 on sale. I'll give the dev credit, what was there was absolutely right up my alley. The way the weird events start happening, the audio, the setting, all of that is amazing. It's just a shame that the dev seems to have just dropped the project without a single word on when/if there will be more. Just promises on this page that feel empty when there has been no communication.
Adam, the fact that so many people want you to continue this should be a compliment of the highest kind, and I think you owe it to us to at the very least come out and say the game is dead. Or if it isn't, then show us that! I spent $7 on this, which isn't much. If this was an entire game with a finished story and more content, then I would have gladly paid more. For a 8-12 hour campaign, similar to Resident Evil or Silent Hill, I'd be happy to shell out $40 for that.
The fact that the graphics, physics, audio, and the feel of just walking around this dreary world can compete with the likes of the big name survival horror games out there is astonishing, given how small the dev team is. I really really hope that we see more of this in the future.
