It was a fun small experience, I like shmups and I like what you did here. As 1st project I think what you did here was nice, good feedback on hit, I didn’t feel it was missing sfx on the gameplay, good visually and the level was fair and good. The song selection was nice and really fits the vibes of the game
About the story/concept, it’s interesting, I like the description on the itch page, how you add a “!” after a feature, it was funny and I think it’s the 1st time I saw vikings on a shmup and it was nice you can run over the enemies instead of taking damage, that adds fun and force to the viking boat haha. Also I like the visual you put on the page with the controls
As 1st level, it is nice and the HP drops are good, the boss is ok, maybe if the bullets were more clear/less obscure, you could put harder patterns. I like the dialogue on the second level and the background, it was funny and it’s a nice way to end something that is missing :)
I guess for next time, I could say, try to make that the volume stay the same after you beat the game, I could see that the volume low downs again once you return to the main menu, I guess it’s the only thing I could say since the game is short haha (Also everyone already gave you great feedback so I can't say much more haha)
Hmmm, maybe adding tags and looking at the options you have when you edit your Itch page game would be nice, tags can help people to look at your game more easily and it can help you to make your game be able to be played on full screen if you want that
It’s nice you decided to upload your game, it can be intimidating/anxiety inducing uploading something you made when you are starting, I can’t recommend stuff like “go and team up” because I suck at that and end up most of the time doing all in solo xD, but solo dev can be tiring, so don’t over push yourself toooo hard for long periods of time, it can really take a toll on all your body and mind
Try to have fun with your journey, it’s ok to fail, feel emotions, take pauses and it’s ok to make and show incomplete and “ugly” games, maybe your next game will be less played or will be played more, who knows, but try to keep learning, there will be times where maybe there won't be a good visible progress but it really builds up
Grats on your 1st project and I hope you keep doing games! ^^
