I beat the boss INSIDE THE SPAWN for the WHOLE TIME. tedious, but I figured out the cage doesn't lock unless phase 2 begins or if you enter, and also that the cage door doesn't open after completion...which can be a big problem in my case...just look at the images. well...there's another problem to fix for playtesting I guess
oh yeah for those who want to replicate it, go to all the way to the right and shoot as far left as possible to attack during second phase, also make sure to have a good melee and not just ranged as the worm things can get you easy if you don't. also gilded helps a lot for food as the worms can drop food if using gilded. I used a twinfire crossbow and just a pitchfork to pull this off, so if you prepare ahead it should be way easier than it was for me. also the worm things can go through the gate which is another bug
