Thanks so much for checking this out!

I built it to play on my Steam Deck, so the [A] is meant to represent a controller glyph.

It’s been a lot of fun to work on, I spent most of my morning adding in more features to expand the gameplay, I’ll post a new build soon!

Ahh I see! Maybe controller detection would be good because it was a little confusing.

Will do! This was just the initial prototype to get some feedback from friends about, is this fun?

I’m having a blast working on the project so far.

It's decent, I'd say it drops you in quite hot and I probably gave it a bit more respect because of our connection, but once you get into it and understand what's going on.. yeah. I think the little bugs can be quite hard on the eyes in a way that perhaps trails would solve? but I can't be sure about that.

To add, I also feel like a more centered/front-facing sprite would work better not just aesthetically (perhaps but not my main gripe) but to communicate what is happening, even like the frogs puffing up (like a big croak) instead of sticking out the tongue.
The combination of tongue and sideways initially led me to believe the frogs were eating the bugs, given the size and quantity of the bugs I had to observe quite intently to workout this was not the case.

Completely agree on both points! For reference I’ve only put a few hours into this prototype and have only used free CC0 assets found on Itch.io/opengameart.

I’m busy with a few other projects, but plan on expanding this potentially trying to ship it for October’s Next Fest.

Glad to get your feedback though, greatly appreciate it!
