A project with a solid emotional core that is nevertheless undercut by subpar presentation. In many ways, the writing is the strongest part of It's You Again and Again. This is a highly conceptual story that speaks to and of its themes with confidence while portraying an allegory rich with potential for interpretation. I found the emotional journey compelling and that characters and locations were established incredibly well for how briefly we get to see so many of them. Sadly, the presentation didn't seem to get the same amount of love. It is definitely fine for the most part, but this is a story with greater ideas that, I think, needed a higher level of pizzazz to complement it. Instead, transitions and backgrounds are a little too basic and cause some events to have less gravitas than they could've. That said, I do not believe this comes from a lack of skill as two storytelling scenes demonstrate the dev has both an eye for aesthetics and programming know-how to make something more interesting of the audiovisual experience. It may be harsh to say this game "didn't cook evenly," but I genuinely feel a more well-rounded VN is only a flash fry away. Even if I'm a little let down, It's You Again and Again remains a project worth experiencing again and again and again...
