Interesting that remembering the past, and wanting to hurt and die is the short ending. That lingers as a haunting gaze. This pain and memory weighs on us, but the good memory with them will also stay. You don't see memory this until after the choice to remember, which would've been nice to know, but trauma just comes back sometimes.

The ending of erasing memory is much longer and thoughtful about what it means to remember, and feel, and have relationships even with all these puzzling flaws and frictions. That possibility has the beauty and music.

A bit like that Eternal Sunshine movie. It's a lot to deal with, but there can be worth found in this experience. The present is a living thing, the past is static images.
