Absolutely brilliant, highly addictive game! Fantastic gameplay, tons of innovative solutions, and a wonderful mythical, post-apocalyptic poetic layer.
I’ve completed three dungeons and I have three rules questions:
- I don’t think this is stated explicitly anywhere in the text but when you enter a room with enemies, do you:
- always have to fight until you win, die, or flee the dungeon,
- have the option to run through the room without engaging in combat (without clearing it), then come back to it later,
- have to fight the first round, and since after each round you can flee the dungeon, perhaps you can also run into the next room and return here later?
- When you have Surge and you lose your first “5,” does rolling a “5” kill you only on the immediately subsequent Draw Forth? In other words, do you have to roll a “5” on two consecutive Draw Forths to die, while non-consecutive “5s” simply make you lose the next dice showing “5”? Or does any “5” on any later Draw Forth kill you?
- Do turns pass only in the context of combat? I assume Mystery Rooms do not waste time unless you engage with something that formally costs you time, for example 2 turns, like a safe?
