The 2D lighting system is used so creatively here — the detail of the mouse pointer itself being a light source is such a clever and immersive touch! The pixel art is charming and really impressive knowing it was your first time doing pixel art. The story of rekindling the flame gives the game a lovely heart and purpose. The difficulty feels well balanced — challenging enough to keep you engaged without being frustrating. Adding a background soundtrack in the post-jam update will really complete the atmosphere, as the sound effects are already nice. Really solid first GDevelop project — looking forward to seeing the polished version! Feel free to check out my sky platformer too 😊

Thanks for the feedback!
It was our first time working in GDevelop so everything felt new. We decided to have our artist work on pixel art for the first time to make it fair 😂 I always have the difficulty in mind when creating a game for a game jam as I know that the judges usually only spend around 15 mins playing your game. I knew that if it was way too easy for me, it was the perfect difficulty for someone that hasn't played it 👌 although the spider enemies surprised more people than expected 😅
We will be sure to check out your game 👍
Stay tuned for the update! ✨
