I gave as much respect as someone who wastes an hour of my time deserves.

Edit: What did I even say that was mean in your eyes? I was much nicer than it deserves. Most of the games issues could be solved with turning a few numbers up or down (Heck, just make the top speed dependent on lever position instead of making it accelerate at almost any position) and giving it a simple "A winner is you" screen like an NES game.  But no, 48 hours wasn't enough for someone who is already a developer, apparently.

Nobody wasted your time except you. The developer did not put a gun in your face and demand you spend an hour playing their game, *you* wasted your time, not them. It could have taken you ten minutes to realize this game wasn't for you but you willingly chose to waste an hour on it. If you considered your time so immensely valuable then you wouldn't be playing this game to begin with, you'd be off doing something productive.

Says the one who went insane for a dozen comments because a dev made a joke update. Seriously, you came out of hiding for two years for me? How sweet!

I do agree with one thing you said though: "free games are not immune to criticism".

do you only play games to complete them? if you stopped having fun then just stop playing

'it was much nicer than it deserves' is in itself quite a charged thing to say! Criticizing a game does not require demeaning the creator.

Your original comment on the game—though the exact words you chose may be a bit harsh—is not something I entirely disagree with.

You should understand, though, that there is no entitlement on your part to a complete game! You've chosen to play a game made for Ludum Dare, which in itself should come with the knowledge you won't be playing a complete product.

Though it wasn't the clearest in the game, I realized that this was likely a game with no set ending, so I just spent about as much time on it as I felt like I needed to to get the gist of it. As much as I wish there was more, this is far from a valid target to call 'barely a game'

Some introspection is in order, you obviously never made anything and don't know how short really 48 hours is, really, check yourself.
Saying he wasted your time is incredibly mean but also so detached in a way, you came in with arbitrary expectations and when they weren't met...

Completely on you for spending this much time playing something that is obviously a barebones demo. Even says what jam it was made for in the description.
